Saba Jelokhani Mokry , DDS
ChairpersonDr. Mokry graduated in 1986 from NC State with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. In 1991 she graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery and was in private practice until 2011. She currently serves as an Adjunct Assitant Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry for UNC Chapel Hill and the Randolph County Health Department and has done so since 2011. Dr. Mokry believes that giving back to the community is her moral obligation and gives meaning to her life. In November 2005 and 2006 she went to Belize for a dental mission trip, and has volunteered at Wake Smiles since 2003. In 2010 she started a dental mobile clinic in Hyde County, collaborating with the NC Baptist Men. She has also volunteered with Mission of Mercy Clinic, Raleigh Rescue Mission, and numerous other open door clinics and dental buses.
C. Knox McMillan, DDS, MS
Immediate Past ChairpersonDr. McMillan has been practicing the art and science of Periodontics in Raleigh, NC since 1976. He received his DDS(‘71) and MS(’73) from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He spent 3 years as a US Navy periodontist at US Naval Station, Rota, Spain before returning to Raleigh. In addition to his private practice, he has served as a clinical instructor in the UNC Graduate Periodontics Program and was the Taskforce Chair in starting the WAKE SMILES indigent care program.
Sabine Schtakleff, DDS
SecretaryDr. Schtakleff has been involved in dentistry for about ten years. She began as a Dental Assistant, which led to the discovery of her passion and love for the profession. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both her undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees. After graduation, she completed a General Practice Residency program at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, VA. There, she learned to better manage complex procedures, dental emergencies, and deliver excellent, patient-centered care. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society, and Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society.
Gary D. Oyster, DDS
Dr. Oyster is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He has served on two American Dental Association councils. He is a founding member of Wake Smiles and has participated in Mission of Mercy dental clinics statewide. He is the program chairperson for the Paul Revere Study Club and attends many seminars and continuing education courses.
Dean Woodall, DDS
Vice ChairpersonOriginally from Benson, John attended UNC for both his undergraduate studies and dental school—one of just two students to earn his doctorate ahead of schedule. He’s the proud father of two, Chandler and Dean, and Woodall & McNeill recently welcomed Dean to the practice. When he’s not exercising, reading or playing golf, John loves to reconvene his old high school guitar bands.
Nazir Ahmad, DDS, MPH
SecretaryBoard Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Nazir Ahmad, DDS, MPH has been performing oral surgery and practicing dentistry in North Carolina since 2008. Dr. Ahmad was raised and lived in Raleigh, NC for the past 30 years. He received his undergraduate degree from NC State and Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) from the UNC School of Dentistry. Afterwards, he completed a four year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Ahmad has been on the Wake Smiles Board for two years and volunteers monthly in the clinic.
Mac Collie, DDS, MS
--Dr. Mac Collie is an orthodontist with Wake Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. He is a true Tarheel with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, a Doctorate of Dental Surgery and a Masters of Science in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. His professional affiliations include the American Association of Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontics, North Carolina Association of Orthodontics, UNC Orthodontic Alumni Association, American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society. Dr. Collie has been on the Wake Smiles Board for two years and serves as the Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee.
Catherine Cunningham, DDS
--Catie Cunningham graduated from UNC School of Dentistry in 2013. She is the North Carolina Dental Society 4th district President, serves on the Wake Tech Community College advisory committee and is a member of the Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society, Paul Revere and Butler Ross study clubs. Catie and Michael McGuire were married this summer and have a golden retriever Tarrson. They are expecting their first child this spring. As a general dentist she loves treating all ages to help patients in all aspects of dentistry from orthodontics to extractions. Dr. Cunningham has served on Wake Smiles Board for one year and volunteers frequently in the clinic.
Nedda Ibrahim, DDS
--In 1967, as a young child, Dr Ibrahim immigrated to Raleigh with her family. She attended elementary, middle and high school in Raleigh. After receiving a B.S. degree from N C State University in 1981, Dr. Ibrahim went on to earn a Master of Public Health in 1985 from the UNC School of Public Health at Chapel Hill and then a DDS degree from the UNC School of Dentistry in 1990. She then started her private dental practice in Raleigh. Dr. Ibrahim is always trying to give back to the community. Dr. Nedda (as her patients like to call her) has spent many hours volunteering for organizations and programs including: Hispanic Ministries Dental Bus, NC State Fair Dental Bus, Wake Smiles Dental Clinic, Project Access program (seeing patients in her office), Open Door Clinic with Urban Ministries, the newly organized Mariam Dental Clinic at Wake Smiles and the Mariam Clinic Dental Bus program, Missions of Mercy Dental Clinics, and the IAR food pantry. In addition, she has also mentored young pre-dental students at NCSU and other area colleges and offered free emergency services at her office to numerous refugees from all over the world. Continuing to serve after almost 25 years of private practice, Dr. Ibrahim is the past President and current board member of the Raleigh Wake County Dental Society as well as serving as the Executive Director of the RWCDS Dental Foundation. She has been serving since 2009 and continues to serve as CoPresident of the NC Chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Nedda currently serves on the Executive Board and The Finance Committee of Wake Smiles. She was the recipient of the 2014 Mariam Clinic Humanitarian Award in recognition for establishing the Mariam Dental Clinic which now operates on a regular basis. Dr. Ibrahim continues to work in her private practice in Raleigh.
J. Christian Sheaffer, DDS
--Dr. J Christian Sheaffer has been a board member and volunteer with Wake Smiles since 2003. He utilizes his endodontic expertise to provide and advise on root canal treatment. Dr. Sheaffer is proud of Wake Smiles accomplishments as the longest running volunteer dental clinic in Wake County.
Dianne Keyser, CDA, MAEd.
STAFF: Executive Director
Ms. Keyser has worked in the dental field for over 35 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Sweet Briar College in 1973. She is a Dental Assisting National Board Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) who has worked as a dental assistant in private practice and public health for 23 years. In 2001, Dianne began teaching in the dental assisting program at Wake Technical Community College. In 2007 she received a Masters in Adult Education from University of Phoenix. She came to Wake Smiles in 2013 after retiring from Wake Tech. She worked and volunteered with Urban Ministries Open Door Dental Clinic and continued volunteering with Wake Smiles after Open Door Clinic closed. Ms. Keyser became a member of Rotary Club of Raleigh after coming to Wake Smiles. She believes wholeheartedly in the Rotary motto “Service above Self”.
